At Fiction Quest, we believe that amateur and debutant writers in India are in dire need of a commercial platform to get their work reviewed, published, and distributed to readers across India.
We aim to provide such a platform to all aspiring writers.

Submission Categories
We're currently accepting submissions in English for the following categories:
Short Stories and Translated Short Stories:
Short stories should be up to 4000 words. The genre is not a bar, but we don't publish erotica or highly sexualised content.
If you are translating someone else's work:
(i) Make sure you have the rights to do the same
(ii) Include the name and contact details of the original author
Children's Stories
Stories must either be written by children or should cater to children. The length should be up to 2000 words.
Poetry
There is no bar on genre for poetry.
Book Reviews (Fiction)
The book reviews must be around 800 words. They must be neutral, including both the positive and negative sides of the book. Reviews must be of books that are not 'mainstream'.
Note:
All the submissions must be previously unpublished.
What We Consider as Published:
- Publications in magazines, whether online or in print
- Publications in anthologies, whether in print or in e-book format
- Publications on platforms such as Amazon Kindle Direct
What We Don't Consider as Published:
- Personal blogs or personal websites
- Personal Social Media Pages
- Platforms such as Wattpad
Manuscript Guidelines
The submissions must be in DOC, DOCX, RTF, or TXT format. Avoid sending PDFs or scanned copies.
Don't use excessive formatting. Pay attention to grammatical errors.
Along with the submission include the following:
(i) Your name and contact information
(ii) A short bio of about 100 words
(iii) List of other published works (if any)
(iv) Links to social media

Important Information
Please don't send us more than one submission at a time.
We understand that as a writer you’d like to submit your story to multiple places. However, if your story is selected to be published elsewhere, please do inform us.
We will try our best to respond to every submission. If your story is accepted, we will contact you and work with you to make any changes we feel necessary. If your story is rejected, you will get a note from our editor as to what could have made the story better. Please do not resubmit the stories.
If you don't hear from us in about two months, please feel free to write to us.
Rights
If your story is accepted, we will retain:
(i) the exclusive first rights for publication, that is the story cannot be printed anywhere else, before we publish it.
(ii) non-exclusive rights to publish later, in the form of anthology etc.
If you republish your story after it appears in our magazine, we would appreciate if you would mention that it was first published with us.
Monetary Compensation
We offer 20ppw for stories and a flat rate for poetry.
